Beirut Food & Cuisine

What kind of food & cuisine can I find in Beirut?

Beirutis are known for their laid back attitude, but if there's one thing they take very seriously it's their food. Life revolves around meals in this city and as a result, Beirut offers a wide choice of cuisine whatever the craving, no matter the hour.

Obviously, you'll find Beirut is famous for it's Lebanese cuisine, but by no means does it stop there. Everything from Italian to Chinese, fast food to French, steaks to sandwiches and sushi to home-cooked meals can be found all around the city. The diversity in choice is rivaled only by the diversity in prices. It's as easy to splurge and spoil yourself on a fancy meal as it is to satisfy your cravings on a $5 snack in Beirut.

While most restaurants and food outlets in Beirut open early and close late, the general 'meal hours' of Beirut are: breakfast from 7:30am-10am, lunch from 12:30pm-3:00pm, and dinner from 8:00pm– 10:30 pm. For those who don't like their meals at a set time, don't worry, Beirut has dozens of restaurants and food outlets open 24/7.

Generally, no matter where you are in Beirut you'll be nearby one of the city's great restaurants

or cafés, but if you feel like walking around and taking your pick, venture down to Hamra, Gouraud Street – Gemmeyzeh, or Downtown, where they tend to be more concentrated.
