Nightclubs, Pubs, And Bars To Be Closed In Lebanon Until Further Notice

The Ministry of Interior has issued a new circular with updated measures to curb the coronavirus pandemic in Lebanon, effective as of this morning.

The circular states that all nightclubs, bars, and pubs in the country close down until further notice due to the crowded nature of these place and the lack of social distancing measures in them.

To avoid a nationwide shutdown, designated ministries have decided to close down towns and villages where the coronavirus is rampant.

This comes as Lebanon faces a severe coronavirus outbreak with no less than 1,000 cases being recorded on the daily. Lebanon now has more than 50,000 COVID-19 cases in total with more than 450 recorded deaths. The surge was first noted in August and the situation has continued to worsen since then, despite the country’s ability to curb the outbreak early throughout the year and even reach 0 new cases per day.

With or without government measures, please take it upon yourselves to be responsible. Many hospitals in Lebanon are nearing their ICU bed capacity and the Minister of Health has even compared the scenario to that of Italy and Spain. It is your duty to keep yourself and your loved ones safe by avoiding crowded places, always wearing a mask, and social distancing.
