Art Circle cordially invites you to attend
the opening reception of “Witnesses”: An exhibition by Abed Kadiri.

Born in Beirut in 1984, Abed Kadiri pursues his degree in Arabic Literature and subsequently in Fine Arts at the Lebanese University.

Upon achieving his studies, he is quickly noticed by professors and art critics. His work being a meticulous play between large monochromatic backgrounds and fine details in the foreground. Primarily based on color, he contrasts and mixes tones, and uses them as a basis to his artworks. Fierce brushstrokes define his subjects while fine juxtaposing lines detail theirs expressions.

His drawn characters or “Witnesses” – both human and animal – have each his story to tell. Their eyes are solitary in seeing and their ears have them alone heard unknown truths. Whether in religious or political context, his assumed spectators appear all touched, marked or even shocked by what they have witnessed.

His earlier works have dealt with humanitarian and political issues, such as his body of work “Abou Ghreib”, produced in 2006, capturing the torture and oppression performed by US military in Iraq.

Abed Kadiri has participated in collective shows and art fairs in both Lebanon and Kuwait. He has also worked as an art critic in Kuwait where he currently resides.

Special Formula:Art Circle opens on Saturday from 11:00am till 5:00pm.
