Giulio Rimondi was born in Italy in 1984.

He pursued classical studies, receiving a degree in Letters and History of Art. After graduating he began to travel, driven by passion and curiosity. It was then that he began his artistic career and became increasingly involved in photography. From the very start he combined art photography with socially committed reporting, focusing in particular on the human dimension of the subject.

As a photojournalist, he has contributed to international publications like The New York Times-Lens, Le Monde, Republica and a number of other European and Middle-Eastern newspapers and magazines.

He has had solo exhibitions of his work in Italy and abroad, in art galleries as well as museums, festivals and art fairs.

His images are part of the CRMO’s Collection of Italian Contemporary Photography and of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie collection in Paris

In 2009 he won the Iceberg Prize on reportage photography and the Special Prize for art photography.

In January 2011 his first book, Beirut Nocturne, published by Charta (Milan_NYC) has been released and distributed worldwide.

Giulio is currently working on his second editorial project “The white hours”, on Alger, due to be released by spring 2012.
