AUGUST 2015: A Novel in the Making by The Amazin’ Sardine [Chap. 2-3]

Sunday, Oct 9, 2011
8:00pm -> 11:00pm
Knock On Wood

The Amazin’ Sardine is doing it again!

Few headlines from Chap. 1 and 2: A novel featuring a Khomeini poster, a haunted apartment in Ashrafieh, war, genocide, two little Christian girl-ghosts, a unicorn pendant, incest, a date with a prostitute, one death-pill, an endless corridor inside my house that I never knew existed, a deal with the world of the dead, and a thorough prediction of the political scene in 2015.

The AUGUST 2015 Project is a project initiated by the Amazin’ Sardine with the participation of Knock on Wood Pub in Hamra. The concept revolves around the idea of a living novel that is shaped by the people who listen to it. Twice a month, on a Sunday, in Knock on Wood Hamra, the Amazin’ Sardine will read a chapter of his novel August 2015, a novel set in a post-apocalyptic Beirut in the company of an insane protagonist.

A discussion will be held after the reading where people would ask whatever they want and then write on pieces of paper the situations they would like to see happen.

The August 2015 Project could be considered as a simple serial novel that can be accessed through the internet freely and which is updated every two weeks with a new chapter, yet for the full experience.
If you are in the vicinity of Beirut, Lebanon, the Amazin’ Sardine will read the new born chapter live and you will get the chance to veer the novel into that place that is more you.

Don’ t think too much, ignore that gut cramp telling you no. Come. It will be worth it. It will be repulsive in that way only the Amazin’ Sardine can deliver.

The Amazin’ Sardine, is a dish better served old. And to quote Mama Sardine, “Listen you little shit, stop sniffing and start eating.”
