The Metropolis Association and the Institut Français au Liban have the great pleasure to welcome, on October 24th at 8:30 PM, the sneak premiere of La source des femmes (The Source), the new film by Radu Mihaileanu nominated 5 times at the Cannes Film Festival this year. This is a most expected event after the success of Vas, vis et deviens (Live and Become) (Most Popular Film at Vancouver International Film Festival 2005, Label Europa Cinemas at the Berlin International Film Festival 2005, César of the Best Writing - Original 2006) and The Concert (César of the Best Music Written for a Film 2010, Nominated for the Golden Globes 2011).
This is the 5th feature film of the acclaimed French filmmaker, featuring stars from the Arab cinema such as Hiam Abbas (Lemon Tree, The Syrian Bride, Everyday is a Holiday), Hafsia Herzi (The Secret of the Grain) and Leila Bekhti (A prophet).
In a utopian village somewhere in North Africa, the women fetch water from a mountaintop spring in the blazing sun. They’ve done that since the beginning of time. Leila, a young bride,urges the women to launch a love strike until the men run water into the village.
This sneak premiere will be held on October 24th at 8:30 PM in France (Paris) as well as three other capitals of the Arab world at the same time: Casablanca, Amman, and Beirut. Before the screening, the audience will exceptionally have the occasion to see the film launching party at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris in live-streaming on the screens at Metropolis Empire Sofil. After the screening, the closing concert in Paris will also be displayed in live-streaming at the theater.
