For its second anniversary, Q Contemporary is pleased to commission one of the most important artistic signatures in the Arab world today, Fadi Yazigi.
Constantly pushing the envelope with bold works in different mediums, the goal for this mixed media artist is to transcend the human experience. “I am trying to explore new materials for my work; experimenting in a very wide variety of ways and forms ... Each new material gives a particular feeling.” For this reason the artist decided to use 18 Karat gold to create a unique piece, titled “The Golden Angel“, in single edition to celebrate Q second anniversary. “Whether painting on canvas, cardboard, textiles or newspapers using acrylics, oil and ink, I depict people and human emotions” says Yazigi who has developed a very personal style in each of his pieces. As a seasoned sculptor, Yazigi's gold statue is formed with exquisite details that are inspired by the creatures present in his paintings and drawings; as if they decided to leave the paintings and come to live.
