Reclaim the Theater for Beirut (theatrical event and protest against the closure of the theater)

In the framework of activities held by the group “Reddo el Masrah la Beirut” (Reclaim the Theater for Beirut) aiming for the protection of Beirut Theater, you are invited to attend a theatrical event and protest against the closure of the theater and against the diminishing cultural and public space in Lebanon. Your presence makes a difference !

A big number of artists and concerned activists are participating in the event through :

– A group of Clowns inviting and welcoming people in front of Al-Madina Theater, starting 7:00 P.M.

– Puppets shows at the entrance and stairs of the theater

– Presentation of a theatrical protest play engaging not less than 25 plays and more than 50 actors.

– Following the event is a march towards Beirut Theatre in Ain-El-Mreisseh.

In parallel to the event, on the 27th of march, theaters in Beirut: Al-Madina, Sunflower, Babel and Monot, are changing their name, in a symbolic act, to become “Masrah Beirut”. And the group is inviting all the theaters in Lebanon and in the Arab world to join this symbolic act.
