Animal

An exhibition curated by Luc Jacquet, French filmmaker; he is author and director of:

-The march of the penguins (2005).
-The fox and the child (2008).
-It was a forest (expected on 2013).

In his pal-mares as well: Southern letters (1993), The spring of Weddell seals (1996), The Astrolabe in land of Adelaide (1999), Sea Leopard: share of the ogre (1999), The tick and the bird (2001), Beach and too many penguins (2001), Under the sign of the snake, Penguins and men and Antarctic express spring (2004).

Animal has always been associated with the human. From Lascaux and Chauvet rock paintings to the Quattro cento; from Roman and Byzantine mosaics to photography in the twentieth century; animal sculptors of the enlightenment to conceptual art, animal have always fascinated artists. Today, the theme continues to stimulate contemporary creation. The Alice Mogabgab Gallery presents for the first time in Beirut a selection of recent works by artists ranging from Argentina to Japan, on the theme of the animal, with a tribute to a great Lebanese photographer who passed away in 2011: Riad Traboulsi. The artists showing in the exhibition are Charles Belle, Pascal Bernier, Christophe Bonacorsi, Fabian Cerredo, Samuel Coisne, Pascal Courcelles, Pierre Debbane, Quentin Garel, Fadia Haddad, François Houtin, Sami Karkabi, Houda Kassatly, Li Wei, Monica Mariniello, Vincent Munier, Eric Poitevin, Boulos Richa, Emma Rogers, Riad Traboulsi, Emilio Trad, Takayoshi Sakabe, Farid Zoghbi. The catalog of the exhibition with a text by Luc Jacquet will be available starting June 5.
