Kahwet el-ezzeiz

This is one of the oldest ‘kahwas’, or coffee houses, in Beirut. At around 75 years old, Kahwet el-ezzeiz is a Lebanese icon as well as a humming cafe. This ‘kahwa’ is situated in Gemmayzeh one of the oldest and more recently trendiest neighborhoods in Beirut, and is where people have gathered for years to smoke apple-flavored tobacco, play backgammon and listen to Arabic tunes while sipping on mint-tea.
