Crossroads Workshop

From Jun 4 to Jun 6, 2012
5:30pm -> 7:30pm
Beirut DC

AFAC organizes a development workshop gathering the first cycle grantees of its special “Crossroads” program and a group of consultants. The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (Beirut) is an independent Arab initiative funding cultural projects in the Arab World. Its special program Crossroads aims at supporting cinema projects of all categories (fiction features, feature-length documentaries, fiction shorts, experimental films, animation etc…).

Crossroads will provide financial and professional support to the selected projects in the development stage and will accompany them from development to production, post-production, promotion and distribution. Crossroads emerged from the need to support cinematographic expression against the backdrop of the period of turmoil in the Arab world since the end of 2010. Crossroads will provide the appropriate framework for emerging directors looking to execute projects that probe new modes of visual expression, outside of the agenda set by TV stations and production houses.

On February 28, 2012 the first batch of film projects to receive grants from Crossroads was announced. Six projects were selected in this first cycle ranging from feature-length narratives and documentaries to short and experimental. In the framework of the professional support provided to the six projects..Will attend the workshop, the first cycle grantees as well as consultants Ali Essafi (Morocco), Dora Bouchoucha (Tunisia), Ghassan Salhab (Lebanon) and Mohamed Soueid (Lebanon).

Do not hesitate to get in touch with us to set up a meeting with the Lebanese consultants and grantees taking part in the workshop and who are available now. In addition to the participants available now, the others will be at your disposal for interviews later on, at the margin of the workshop.
