Sights and Sounds of Guinea

Sights and Sounds of Guinea is a two-in-one event designed to portray the culture/traditions and sounds of Guinea.

The first part of the event is a photography exhibition by Sahar Al Khatib and Leila Roumani of their experience in Guinea; exposing the Guinean Culture through a short documentary and a series of exhibited photos. They have traveled together in December 2011 to January 2012, for a month workshop in Guinean Rhythm and Dance Workshops held by Duniya Dance and Drum Company, and the Stronghold Sound. Doors open at 7pm, the exhibition space is on the 3rd floor, in Zico House

The second part of the event is a Dinner Party celebrating the launch of an African Drumming group called ‘Jebebara Unity Drum’ playing the traditional Guinean rhythms. Dinner will be catered by ‘The Good Food collective’, lead by Firas Abi Ghanem A.K.A Firas Yatbokh, with a delightful Guinean menu.

Dinner will be served at 8:00 pm

There will be a Live performance by Jebebara after dinner.

This is only the beginning of a bigger project to form and manifest, join us as we celebrate this new Bridge between Guinea and Lebanon.
