Join Gregory Buchakjian at the Beirut Art Fair 2012 for a book signing at the Agial Art Gallery stand. For those of you who aren't familiar with the artist (you should be!) Gregory Buchakjian focuses on critical research in modern and contemporary Lebanese art. Faculty member at Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) where he was a co-founder of Atelier de Recherche (1997-2004), he is in charge of the art department of Lebanon's new Museum of Vine and Wine.
His personal work deals with the city and its history through multiple scopes including writing (Halte), installation (Office Dada), animation film (What, shoes?) and photography, where he likes confronting the human body into urban spaces (Under(the)line). After the 2006 war, his camera turned towards dark colored and gloomy images of decadent parties during which young Lebanese were trying to escape from social instability and political turmoil (Nighthawks).
