Asil Ensemble in Concert at Al-Madina Theatre

The Asil Ensemble, music group that plays Arabic contemporary music, will be in concert at the Al-Madina Theatre in August. The concert is in two parts. The first part is an Inšād suite with works from the Inšād heritage containing pre-composed works like Tawāšīḥ and improvised works like Ibtihāl and responsorial dialogues between the Munšid (solo chanter) and the Biṭāna (group of chanters) without any instrumental interventions.
The second part contains a series of instrumental and vocal works, all composed by Mustafa Said, presented in a waṣla (modal suite) in maqām Bayātī. The lyrics are extracts from the quatrains of Omar Al-Khayyam and the poems of Abou Yazid Al-Bustami, Jamil Sedqi Al-Zahawi and others.
