Embassy of the United States

In the year 1833, The United States established its first diplomatic presence by appointing a consular agent.

Throughout the nineteenth century, they focused on educational, religious, and literary interests, by founding the American University of Beirut and what later became the Lebanese American University.

American officials had to evacuate the country in the year 1917, due to the tension between the U.S. and the Ottoman Empire. However, after WW1, the Consulate General was re-established.
