The Lebanese Rocket Society

Back in the 1960’s, a group called the Lebanese Rocket Society tried to send Lebanese-made rockets into space. It may sound like a joke, but it’s totally real, and the subject of a new documentary film.

The film focuses on Manoug Manougian, a Lebanese scientist who assembled a team of university students from Hagazian collage, along with army experts, and fellow scientists to try to build the first Lebanese-made rocket to reach space.

Meanwhile in 2012, the electricity just went off for the 5th time today, the same politicians from the 1960’s are still ruling the country, and the only rocket you’re most probably going to see, is one with “Made in Israel” stamped on its side.

Basically, it’s inspirational and demotivating all at once. Watch the trailer:
