Ghada Chbeir and Imane Homsi Live at Saint Elie Maronite Church

Ghada Shbeir and Iman Homsi will sing as a duo, performing Syriac chants from « الفنقيت » and the Maronite repertoire. The « الفنقيت » is a Syriac word signifying volume. It is composed of eight volumes, each pertaining to a particular time in the liturgical year.

The volumes contain Sunday mass and festivities’ prayers filled with beautiful chants, some dating back to the first centuries of Christianity and containing rich Syriac hymns, most of which were lost, while some survived and are still heard in churches to this day.

Ghada Shbeir’s research into these volumes has yielded a musical program comprised of five sections, which are accompanied on the Qanoun by Mrs. Imane Homsi.
