FERN (Food Establishments Recycling Nutrients) is a nonprofit social enterprise that serves as a linkage between establishments that generate large quantities of organic waste and treatment locations that transform organic material into value-added materials.

FERN advocates for environmental stewardship by illuminating the issue of food waste and connecting food establishments with responsible organic waste treatment services.

They seek to replenish food production cycles with the nutrients that are currently lost permanently in landfills, by facilitating organic waste composting, advocating for improved recycling rates, donating leftover food to those in need, improving local access to organic-grade compost, and educating children about the importance of nutrient and materials recycling.
