Yasmine Hamdan and Friends at Beirut Art Center

Three winters ago, Yasmine Hamdan was known as Y.A.S., a pairing, or an encounter of her own culture and that of Mirwais’s electropop music. For ten years, she dominated the Arab underground scene from Beirut, becoming its icon as the front woman of the band Soapkills (along with Zeid Hamdan).

Yasmine is back, precise and crisp clear. She embraces a new project under her own name. The album is the result of an intensive studio collaboration between Yasmine and the producer Marc Collin. A battle is waged through the echoing of Arabic music, from the great productions of the 50s and 60s recorded in Beirut and Cairo, as well as the super sexy Choubi from Iraq, and the very soulful Samri from Kuwait.

In a code-free environment, the artists created a universe of sounds where Yasmine’s vocal swings interpret folk ballads over electronic vibes, as synthesizers, on each song, give accents to a sensuality that belongs to our time.

This event will include performance by Hamdan and various artists, as well as a signing of her latest CD.
