Brigitte’s Battez Vous: Our Latest Beirut Jam Session Fave

One word: Harmonies.

Flawless and effortless harmonies, carrying the entire song through. I’m not even a fan of French music, but this one’s got me wishing I had a hazelnut latte and a beret on hand.

Brigitte perfects a soft falsetto melody that floats throughout much of the song, weaving in-and-out of the beat-boxing (which is amazing), catchy guitar riff and undertones of male voices. An uplifting and decidedly French bridge drags the listener out of a haze of perfumed chorus, only to plunge back into a mirage of Eiffel Towers and underground Parison lifestyle. You’re transported to a quaint night cafe where the night is a poem and the air is a song—and before you realize it—it’s over. And you press repeat.

Now if only I could understand what they were saying.
