E.B. Antoun
Antoun's Music store has been passed down from father to son and to this day is considered one of the best music stores in the Hamra area.
Bechstein Grand Piano
If you own a mansion, have a collection of Cuban cigars, or are just dapper as heck, then this is the instrument for you. The Bechstein grand piano is manufactured in Germany, and was shipped here under Antoun’s direct requests. Because of its enormity, the Bechstein isn’t kept in Antoun’s main shop, but is available upon request.
Guild Guitars
No, my fellow Arabic speakers, these “guild” guitars are not made out of leather. The Guild Guitar Company is a US guitar manufacturer that branched off from Fender.
Guild Guitars
Antoun’s offers classical, electric, and other Guild products, just waiting to be played. And maybe if you ask nicely, you can get Antoun to teach you a trick or two.
Oud
Perhaps one of the loveliest instruments native to this side of the world, the oud dates back to over 5000 years ago.
Oud
While Antoun’s ouds are not quite as old, their rarity stems from the quality of the wood, strings, and overall make.
Oud
Handmade and as beautiful as they sound, Antoun’s ouds are lovely, affordable and so drenched in culture that internationals and expats are almost forced to buy it.
Violins
While violins are all too common to music stores, Antoun’s violins are something special. Rare in both make and beauty, his violins are uniquely his.
Violins
Antoun gathered his collection from all over, making the old and valuable violins one of his proudest items.
Hammond Organs
Feel in the mood to go all out gospel? Reminiscing the good ol’ days of Home Alone? Or do you just want to creepify your house? This product is for you. The Hammond Organs are as impressive as they sound. As dramatic as you can get without the full set of organ pipes, the Hammond Organ is definitely a sight to behold in any household that’s not Dracula’s.
Hidden away on a street adjacent to Hamra is one of the most remarkable of music shops in all of Beirut. Founded in 1955, Antoun’s Music is owned by E.B. Antoun, a dedicated and experienced musician. Antoun’s Music can boast a number of rare instruments, both manufactured internationally and locally. Antoun, who can play nearly every instrument in his store, listed his top five rarest instruments. An added bonus? Antoun offers instrument repairs (which he does himself) and music lessons for those determined to finally carry out their New Year’s resolutions.
