Tarek Yamani Trio Live at DRM

Thursday, Mar 28, 2013
8:30pm -> 10:30pm
DRM - Democratic Republic of Music

DRM is hosting Jazz pianist Tarek Yamani in a unique live performance. Grand prize winner of the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Composer’s Competition, Tarek Yamani is playing in a Jazz trio with Kristijan Krajncan on drums and Goran Krmac on the tuba.

Influenced by Jazz artist Herbie Hancock, Yamani comes up with a mixture of original compositions and a couple of Jazz standards. Starting to play around with a keyboard at a very young age, Yamani wanted to play music the way he wanted.

It was whilst studying computer science that Yamani’s musical heart had its first real flutterings for Jazz, when he discovered Herbie Hancock’s “The New Standard.” It was his discovery of Jazz that brought him back to the piano and before long, he decided to become a professional Jazz musician.
