Advanced Butoh Dance Workshop at The Sunflower Theatre

Monday, May 13, 2013
1:00pm -> 8:00pm
Tuesday, May 14, 2013
11:00am -> 6:00pm

Join The Sunflower Theatre as it hosts an advanced Butoh dance workshop conducted by Japanese dancer/choreographer Atsushi Takenouchi with live music by Hiroko Komiya.

This workshop demonstrates simple and primitive ways of communication by exploring the transformative states of the body in nature. Teachings draw inspiration from the first breath and movements in a person’s life – the inception of life itself.

By focusing on dancing in the present and at one’s threshold, the workshop leads the group to become more aware of the interconnections that link human life to all to the surrounding environment and ultimately to the universe.

Takenouchi’s workshop, based on his own discipline, the Jinen Butoh, will undeniably be an intense experience, where body and soul will be triggered, allowing each participant to discover her/his personal way of moving and communicating with the surroundings.

Participation fee: 100,000 LL (including one ticket for the “Thousand Drops, Thousand Flowers” performance)
