Art Circle is hosting a solo exhibition by Khaled Al-Boushi called “Dot / Stroke / Circle”. In his solo show, Khaled Al-Boushi goes back to the core elements that compose every artwork: the dot, the stroke and the circle.
His dots are single or scattered; balancing therefore his carefully studied compositions. His strokes alter between spontaneous lines and well-defined streaks; they are thick, thin, undulated, broken and at times defining other complex shapes. Whereas his organic circle is omnipresent in this series of work reminiscing probable figures, the ever-changing wheel of life or the grandeur of the universe.
Al-Boushi’s canvases are never saturated; therefore carrying at all times a certain motion. His minimalist creation is based on unpretentious overlaid shapes, and the sober colors used assist in focusing on the essence of the interaction of these elements together. The painting surface is used as an arena where the painter abandons the classical principles of painting to the profit of the creative spontaneous act.
