As part of the Les Ecrans Du Reel festival, Metropolis Cinema is hosting a screening of the documentary “Morning Fears, Night Chants” by Salma Aldiri and Roula Ladqani.
Synopsis: The young woman could not believe what her parents believed, she could not settle for the regime’s narrative about terrorists and a universal conspiracy against it. She saw shooting at peaceful demonstrators with her own eyes.
Among the youth of the revolution, she found a promise of a life she dreamed of, so she “defected” from her family, and started singing. By writing her songs, she is revolting against the deep repression planted inside of her, opening doors to her exceptional talent, and liberating herself, as much as Syria.
