The Beiteddine Palace will be the setting for the grand opening of the Beiteddine Art Festival 2013. It will host a performance of “In the Steps of Marco Polo: A Musical Journey on the Silk Road”.
This musical journey illustrates the trade route from China to Venice. The road bears the name of the most precious merchandise that transited: Silk. This historical trade route gave people the chance to exchange ideas, goods, and religious beliefs; countless artistic influences were transmitted. Lebanon was at the very heart of this journey.
More than 70 musicians, singers and dancers from Lebanon and the world will share the stage; Rafik Ali Ahmad, Abir Nehmé, Charbel Rouhana, Mohammed Motamedi, Sima Dance Company, Indian Dance troupe Gair, Ensemble El Chordais, Ensemble Venice and Lubnan Baalbaki.
