With a vast array of accomplishments and honors already under his belt, Chomsky will add this achievement admist a crowd of thousands in AUB. He’s also no stranger to speaking in front of AUBites; Chomsky gave a stirring lecture at Assembly Hall back in 2006.

Heading the list of recipients, Chomsky will be accompanied by three other luminaries: director of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Charles Elachi, famed Egyptian actress Faten Hamama, and notable businessman Ray R. Irani. According to tradition, each recipient will be making a speech addressing the AUB graduates of 2013 at this summer’s commencement ceremony, on June 14.

Arguably one the most intelligent public figures of today, Chomsky’s nomination comes a year after that of Donna Shalala, and two years after World Bank president James Wolfensohn, both of whom are publically regarded as Israel supporters.
