Join NOK Yoga Shala as it hosts an African dance class with Alice. This class will be accompanied by live percussion performed by Ali Hout and Imad Hashisho, professional musicians.

This class of “African Dance” originates from Benin, a country of West Africa. There, dance is not only a body exercise but is above all, a soul exercise. The body becomes a channel between the ground and the air, and a way to learn both the inner self and the universal.

This class is inspired by the technique of Koffi Koko, international dancer, choreographer and master, who takes the dance’s spiritual meaning, and transforms its traditional language into a contemporary and universal setting. The classes are based on a fluid and cyclic repetition of steps, in a constant search for the “density of the body” in its evolution.

Alice Mattalia began her research into the movement, body language and dance and Kung Fu practice, more than ten years ago. She has an academic background in Social Education and continued with training in “Dance Therapy” with Anna Gasco in Torino and in “Primitive Expression” with France Shott Billmann, in Paris.
