Raffi Joe Live at Villa Paradiso

Thursday, Jun 13, 2013
7:30pm -> 9:30pm
Villa Paradiso

In a once in a lifetime performance, Raffi Joe Wartanian will perform at the reopening of his great grandfather’s 120-year-old mansion that was abandoned during the Lebanese Civil War. Mardiros Balemnian (1895-1983), born in Zara, Turkey and a survivor of the Armenian genocide, along with his nine children, left behind their typewriters, their perfumes, their musical scores, and their memories.

Generations, genocides, and civil wars later, Raffi, inspired by the work of art that was Maridros’ life, will rediscover these lost treasures through performance, and offer his own memories to the home, alongside artist Tom Young, his father the honorable Christopher Young, and the Feghali family.

Raffi will be accompanied by award-winning guest vocalist Eileen Khatchadourian, and will perform original music from his debut album “Pushkin Street” (available at the performance), and Armenian music performed on the oud.
