World Refugee Day at Nasawiya Cafe

Since Lebanon did not ratify the 1951 convention on the refugees status, refugees from Iraq, Sudan, and other countries are treated in Lebanon as illegal migrants, prevented from working, circulating freely and sometimes arrested and tortured.

World Refugee Day is an occasion for the refugees to voice their issues, claim their rights and find means for organizations to support their struggles.

Before going out to start your weekends, make it a point to pass by Nasawiya Cafe to express your solidarity with the refugees. The press conference, during which activists and refugees will speak, is open to the public.
