Spotted: A Smart Road Safety Hack in Hamra

“This could be your uncle’s kids, your sister’s, your own kids or your friends’… don’t speed in front of schools and near pedestrian sidewalks.”

That’s the message road safety NGO Kunhadi wrote on its Facebook page after spotting this street sign in Hamra on Jean D’Arc street. Someone added the word “uncle” to the phrase, “Caution: Children.” It’s a fact of life: the more personalized the message, the more people actually care about what you’re trying to say.

So the next time you think about vandalizing a road sign for pure fun, take a note from this street vigilante, and add something positive.

According to Information International, 523 people are killed in traffic accidents every year in Lebanon.
