Saida’s Studio Soussi Defied Photoshop in the 1950s

On Monday, UK newspaper The Guardian published pictures taken by self-taught photographer Chafic Ahmad Soussi, who lived and worked in Saida his entire life.

One of those photographs features a portrait of an unidentified father and his two sons superimposed on to an airplane with mountains in the background.

Since Photoshop wouldn’t be created for another half-century, Soussi’s work stands as a tribute to the skilled craftsmanship of old world photography. Check out more of his work on the Guardian’s website.
