Hiking in Tannourine with Dale Corazon

Sunday, Aug 18, 2013
7:30am -> 5:00pm
Tannourine

Join Dale Corazon for an exciting trip to Tannourine’s forest. Tannourine is home to over 70,000 ancient cedar trees such as the Cedrus Libani species, in addition to a variety of pines, poplars, and other tree species like Cupressus, Pinus, Abies, and Populus.

The hike is divided into two levels:

Level 4 is an easy and wonderful trail. The stunning mountainous landscape, with cedars seemingly defying gravity and growing on extremely vertical slopes, is impressive. You will be able to see rare types of flowers particular to this high-altitude terrain.

Level 6 is harder and recommended for experienced hikers only. It consists of ascending trails that require physical prowess. You will start from Arz Hadath el Jebbeh and head to Dahr el Mil. From there, you’ll head to the Tannourine Reserve to meet up with Level 4 hikers for lunch under the Ayoub Tree.

After lunch, everyone will go to visit an old Crusade church and Deir Wata Houb, built in 1749 from funds offered as gifts by Christians and Muslims.

Participation fee: 35,000 LL per person including transport, guides, insurance and entrance fee to the Cedars Reserve.
