As part of the Beirut Art Fair 2013, Station Beirut will celebrate its opening with an exhibition by New York-based French artist Maripol, called “Maripolorama.”
The “Maripolorama” exhibition features a selection of Polaroid photographs by New York-based French artist Maripol which serve as a genuine “who’s who” from this legendary period. Photographer, stylist and filmmaker of Lebanese origin, Maripol’s work subversively intersected the art, film and fashion worlds.
Wherever she went, from alternative art spaces to iconic nightclubs like Studio 54, she took her Polaroid SX-70 with her and with a devastating instinct, captured instant portraits of emerging artists who would later make it big. Maripol’s Polaroid prints feature intimate close-ups and offstage candids of a generation whose creative influence has had a lasting impact on global pop culture.
