Portals Exhibition by Carlo Keshishian

The Running Horse is pleased to present Carlo Keshishian’s first solo exhibition in Beirut, entitled “Portals.”

Born and raised in England, Keshishian completed his studies in music, visual art and design while pursuing his art. “Portals” comprises six large canvases depicting hand-drawn, intricate spirals that exude a strange optical illusion emphasized by strong or fluorescent colors.

“The spirals function as portals,” says Keshishian. “Parallels are drawn (in more ways than one) with and from the result of having accessed parts of the brain that are ordinarily off limits, through the use of hallucinogenic properties. The spiral is a birth canal through which a metaphysical transcendence is manifested.”

Underground Deep Jazz movements such as the Spiritual Jazz, Free Jazz and Modal Jazz movements feed Carlo Keshishian’s inspiration along with writers such as Paul Auster who is particularly relevant to this series.

Keshishian has widely exhibited between Asia, Europe and the United States.
