Abou Andre Falafel

Farid Lutfi opened the Abou Andre restaurant in 1976 in a 100 square-foot store in Zouk Mikhael, Lebanon. Lutfi, formerly a Lebanese army veteran, operated his modest store with his wife and children selling only falafel and soft drinks. The first branch was a success and it remains open until this day.

In 1985, Andre, the eldest son and graduate of the Ecole Hoteliere of Beirut, saw a great niche and opportunity to expand across Lebanon. Therefore he capitalized on the good reputation and opened the second store in Jounieh, Lebanon. This store was more of a fast casual restaurant offering take-away service as well as accommodating those coming in for a quick bite or a fulfilling meal. Furthermore, a menu was elaborated and included a range of Lebanese rustic dishes such as ful, hummus, fattat and qawarma.

The concept was a real success. Today, Abou Andre has 9 different locations opened throughout the main northern cities of Lebanon and the suburbs of Beirut.
