On Friday, Beirut.com told you about a video posted on Facebook that showed a Lebanese teen forcefully shoving a cat in a microwave and turning it on for a few seconds before removing the animal. The video, which sparked massive outrage, has since been removed, though it is still in circulation through re-uploads, and airplay on various local media outlets such as Al Jadeed and LBC.

On Monday, the teen seen in the video, Hassan Hammoud and the one who filmed it, Mohammad Jallad, both issued public video apologies posted through a Facebook page created to shame the perpetrators, and calling for the prosecution of the young men.

According to Beirut for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (BETA), Hammoud has contacted the group saying he will give the cat to either them or Animals Lebanon, but apparently keeps retracting the offer.
