Great Escape

Join Great Escape for an archaeological tour in the area of Nahr Ibrahim where you will be visiting three temples from the Roman era plus a Byzantine church and numerous rock engravings.

Visits Details
– First stop at Ghinee: visit of the so-called “Adonis Stele,” along with the Byzantine church and mosaics
– Second stop at Machnaqa: visit the temple,and rock cut tombs
– Third stop at Yanouh: visit St Georges “the blue” church/temple Maronite Patriarchal See 770-1270
– Fourth stop at Afqa: visit of the remains of the Venus Temple and waterfalls of Adonis

Practical Info
-Distance from Dbayeh by bus: 35 km / 45 min
-No less than 45 minute visit per site, including short historical/archeological briefing
-Kids and amateur artists are encouraged to draw what they see (material will be provided & collected to be shared)
-Lunch (not provided) will be in a shared picnic between Yanouh and Afqa

What to Bring
Walking shoes, back pack, water, light meal (sandwiches, chocolate, dried fruits), sunglasses, lip balm protection, sunscreen, hat, wind breaker (K-way), polar fleece jacket.

Don’t forget to bring a Lebanese flag.

Cost
$35 (or 52,500 LL) covering guides & transportation, drawing materials, Mountains of Lebanon Calendars (1 Wall & 1 mini), 1 Lebanon Flag Pin (to be worn all the time) – excluding insurance.

Feasibility
A minimum of 12 persons is required – maximum 25 persons.

Gathering time 8:45 a.m. and departure time 9:00 a.m. sharp from Spinneys parking lot in Dbayeh
