Synopsis
When the sky swallowed its sun and remained in the darkness of the night, Fatmeh returned to dance her losses away. Finding comfort in the voice of another Fatmeh to express her pain, tracing through history the Fatmehs plagued by separation and death, to tie their hair together around the neck of the city and its despair.

“Fatmeh is a dance performance that investigates the physical movements” of a spontaneous body that hasn’t been subjected to the moulds and techniques of dance. It rethinks and reworks the quality of acquired and innate movements as it relies on the reservoir of legacy and every- day life. The work stems out of the intimate and private to propose inquiries into the relation- ship between the body and religion, society and cultural legacy and norms.
Fatmeh retrieves the prototypes of movement of mourning and tragedy, and especially the aspect of repetition and layering of time, to reframe and represent the catastrophe, which translates the language of grieving and sadness into physical joy that is not separate to daily activities.
