‘Red Sunflowers’ Exhibition by Fatima Kawtharani

Art Circle gallery invites you to ‘Red Sunflowers’ by Fatima Kawtharani.

Opening reception:
Thursday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the presence of the artist.

Fatima Kawtharani’s work presents strong semiotics related to motherhood, childhood and the growing life. Elements of nature often characterize her paintings, as they are directly a reference to the topics she tackles. The sunflowers, the fish, the sky, and water are a few of the elements reminiscent of life and its evolution. They represent the similarities, richness and variations of the human life compared to the fauna and flora.

Kawtharani brings to her paintings another dimension by sewing directly on the canvas. The colorful threads blend with the paint and highlight the depicted elements. The integration of fabric and embroidery has become the artist’s signature technique.

Born in 1971 in Lebanon, Fatima Kawtharani graduated in 1994 from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University where she also acquired her Master’s degree. She has exhibited frequently in her home country namely at the Salon d’Automne of the Musée Sursock in Beirut, as well as abroad. ‘Red Sunflowers” is her second solo exhibition at Art Circle.

Note: The gallery closes at 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
