Saturday, Mar 29, 2014
7:30pm -> 10:00pm
Saifi Village

Attend Concrete Sampling: A Performance by Ilaria Lupo and Joe Namy at Saifi B450 excavation site opposite Beit Kataeb, Saifi Beirut.

Concrete Sampling is conceived as an interference to the urban soundscape, as the set up of a new rhythm within the existing one. A composition for concrete, metal, hammers, circle saw, drill, crane, compressors, crowbar, clamps, bolts…

Ilaria Lupo is a Beirut-based visual artist, whose work focuses on public space practice. The public space itself becomes the actual material of work, as an organic platform, where the energetic interactions play a major role, putting into question official narratives and social boundaries.

Joe Namy is a Beirut-based artist/composer using a variety of media to investigate aspects of identity, memory, power, and currents encoded in music/organized sound. He was a participant in the Ashkal Alwan’s Home Workspace program (HWP) and received a MFA from New York University.
