About the Syrian Refugee School in Baalbek:
– It’s run and staffed almost entirely by Syrian refugees
– Teachers worked on a volunteer basis for the whole of last year
– Classrooms rented from another school, rental fees waived for this year
– Contrary to high dropout rates among Syrian refugees in Lebanese schools, every single student from last year has re-enrolled
– Nearly 200 refugee kids enrolled this year. Had 145 last year.
– Teaches Syrian curriculum, grades 1-12

What they need:
– $3,600 per month to cover the salaries of 15 teachers and members of staff. Without this money, the school won’t stay open.

What your money will do:
– Allow a school in an impoverished area of Lebanon to stay open
– Give 200 Syrian refugee kids the chance to learn their own curriculum rather than the Lebanese one.
– Provide a livelihood for 15 refugee adults
– Lessen the burden on the overwhelmed Lebanese school system
