‘Goya en Burdeos’ (Goya in Bordeaux) Screening at Metropolis

The Spanish Embassy in Lebanon, the Instituto Cervantes of Beirut and the Metropolis Association have the pleasure to present the film series of Carlos Saura: Saura o la narración bailada (Saura or the dancing narrative), in collaboration with the AECID and the ICAA, and with the support of BLC Bank.

Born in Arragón in 1932, Carlos Saura is one of the most prestigious figures of Spanish cinema. La Caza (The Hunt), of which we are presenting the restored version, was Saura’s first international success. Produced in 1965, the movie was shot during the dictatorship and heralded a period of a certain historical review in the Spanish cinema. Saura’s international recognition is strengthened with the movie La Prima Angélica which won the Jury’s Special Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1974. In the seventies, Carlos Saura established a personal and professional relationship with Geraldine Chaplin who starred in his most important movies such as Elisa, vida mía.

During the eighties, Saura became one of the best maestros of the musical productions thanks to his close collaboration with Antonio Gades. The trend goes on with Saura’s latest musical production Flamenco, Flamenco (2010).
