Introduction to Nia: An Experiential Workshop

Saturday, Sep 27, 2014
10:00am -> 12:00pm
AK Yoga Studio

A dynamic blend of dance arts, martial arts and healing arts. Balancing technical precision with free-form expression, Nia brings the body, mind, emotions and spirit to optimum health through music, movement and self-expression, guided by the sensation of pleasure. Optimize your health. Sense your body. Dance your spirit. Experience self-healing and self-expression.

This 2-hour workshop is designed for those who are new to Nia. The first hour is a no-music practice. We will explore some of the 52 moves of Nia, designed to experience the five sensations (flexibility, agility, mobility, strength and stability). The second hour is about music and the joy of movement. We dance a full Nia class using The Body’s Way with pleasure!

Please wear clothing that allows you to move freely; you will be moving in your barefeet. Remember to bring water and towel.
