Rapper Chyno Speaks to Syrian Suffering With ‘Fight or Flight’

“Now let’s have some order.
Could I get some freedom and,
could I please get peace with that
without you trying to get a piece of that?”

Nearing its four-year anniversary, the Syrian Revolution has turned into a complex civil war with armed groups and governments across the globe getting involved either directly, or via proxy and material support.

More than 6.5 million Syrians have been displaced and some 191,000 dead by the last count. Chemical weapons, air strikes, tanks, live ammunition – the Syrian regime has shown no signs of letting up. And remember that “red line” that US President Obama said Bashar al-Assad had crossed last year? Well… apparently that line has been blurred.

The Syrian regime still has its fair share of supporters. But I wouldn’t be surprised if these are the same people who believe Hurricane Sandy was “the great work of the brave lions of Syria in retaliation for the evil conspiracy against our great nation.”

Fortunately, there are those who stand with the people, like Syrian-Filipino rapper Nasser Shorbaji, a.k.a. Chyno. The MC has teamed up with director Pedros Temizian to deliver a single off his new album, Making Music to Feel at Home, which captures the essence of the struggle many Syrians are facing. You want a voice for human suffering? First thing’s first…
