The Day of the Dead at Minus 5

The Embassy of Mexico in Lebanon, in collaboration with the Embassy of Chile and MINUS 5 cordially invite you to celebrate ‘The Day of the Dead.’

The Day of the Dead is a Mexican celebration that gathers family and friends to pray for and remember loved ones who have passed away. An altar-installation made of marigolds, images, sugar skulls, playful skeleton figurines, bread in the form of bones and religious images is made to celebrate death and presented to honor on that night our deceased by lighting candles and burning incense.

This year, the altar will be dedicated to the Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño, who lived in Mexico and passed away in 2003. A reading of Bolaños ́s work will be followed by a performance by Mazen Zahreddine. Bring candles and your good spirit to join us in this Mexican tradition. A cocktail and music will follow.
