About: Kirdec
C-drík aka KIRDEC was born in Zaire (now Congo, DR). He began to study declamation, orchestral drums and music theory in 1985 and started composing music in 1989 for the Crno Klank project. Later, he studied electro-acoustic/acousmatic music at the conservatory of Mons, Belgium.

He currently produces different music genres ranging from electro-acoustic music to minimal wave, digital punk to industrial, dark ambient to electronica, etc. He is the owner of the Syrphe music label, a platform partly dedicated to alternative electronic and experimental music from Africa and Asia. C-drík contributes on a monthly basis to Radio Staalplaat, where he presents experimental music from Africa, Asia and Latin America.

About Jawad Nawfal
Jawad Nawfal aka Munma (born in Beirut, 1978) studied audiovisual and film studies at the IESAV Institute in Beirut specializing in sound design. In 2001, he formed Altered Ear, a laboratory of sound research and composition. Altered Ear collaborated with photography collective Engram in 2004, creating the sound design for the exhibition and multimedia performance Numbers, which was shown in Lebanon in 2004 and in France in 2005.

Nawfal created MUNMA in the aftermath of Israel’s war on Lebanon in the summer of 2006. This solo music project explores oriental harmonies and rhythmical patterns, with a strong reliance on sampled traditional musical beds, excerpts from radio speeches and the like, and an overall somber, reflective mood. Four Munma albums were released between 2006 and 2010, by Lebanese labels Incognito and Ruptured.
In 2011, Jawad started collaborating with Lebanese writer, poet & rapper Mazen El Sayed. They’ve released two albums to this day, exploring the darker sides of rap, electronica and dubstep.

About Ruptured
The Ruptured label was founded by Ziad Nawfal in 2008, as an outlet for his activities as a music producer and promoter in Beirut. The label aims to release material by local Lebanese artists, as well as non-Lebanese musicians settled in the Middle East or visiting Lebanon for concerts and performances. The label’s main production output centers around The Ruptured Sessions, a series of recordings made in the studios of Radio Lebanon, the local Lebanese government radio, during Nawfal’s weekly program Ruptures. To this day, 5 volumes of The Ruptured Sessions were released, each focusing on a specific genre and segment of Beirut’s multi-faceted alternative scene.
