In “Sixty One Faces of Winter”, Omar Khouri presents a series of continuous self-portraits, executed in the manner of a visual journal, in the course of a two-month artistic residency in Paris during the winter of 2013. In this exhibition, the work operates relationally, transforming the space into a three-dimensional narrative, subtly approaching the themes of isolation, while testing the limits of representation. Khouri explores self-portraiture as a tool of introspection.
Omar Khouri was born in London in 1978, but spent his childhood in Lebanon. In 2002, he earned a degree in illustration from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and after working in cinema and television for a year in Los Angeles, he returned to Beirut. He lives and works between Beirut and London.
