Survivalist Guide: How To Get Through An Extremely Long Work Week

So you work a job that makes the usual 9 to 5 grind seem like a holiday, spend countless hours at the office crying in your cubicle, and when you finally do make it home, you melt into a pathetic puddle on the floor… only to wake up the next day and do it all over again. Believe it or not, there are ways to get through this. Strap on your seatbelts kids because we’re about to help you carpe the hell out of your diem.

Get Enough Sleep

I can’t stress this enough. Your mind needs to recharge for the next day and you sure as hell don’t want your boss to catch you with your head down, drooling on the company’s new MacBook. Rest up; you’ve got a long day, week, year, and even career ahead of you.

Stay Active

…and healthy for that matter. Can’t make it to the gym every day? No worries. Do a set of squats during your bathroom break. Trust me, it helps. Just make sure you’re not out of breath when you walk out the door or your colleagues will start referring to you as the company oddball.

Prioritize

Between catching up with your old college friends and Sunday barbeques at Gram’s house, it’s hard to spend your free time doing anything else. Here’s where schedules come in handy. Decide what’s more important to you: downing a few beers in Badaro or taking care of that project you’ve been letting sit at the bottom of your ‘to do’ list for the past three weeks.

Wake Up Early

This may sound a bit counter-intuitive, but by waking up at least half an hour earlier every day will give you extra time to do whatever you like. Just don’t do anything work related. It’s supposed to be YOU time. Read a book, do jumping jacks, bake blueberry muffins, who cares, just close that agenda.
