Zoukak Artist Collaboration

Thursday, Feb 26, 2015
8:30pm -> 1:00am
Zoukak Theatre Company and Cultural Association

The event will be centered on the necessity of making art collectively in today’s contested world. How can we push our involvement through art beyond large titles and beyond affect?

It will be a moment for the artists to reflect through their different tools on these issues and propose ways of working together, while creating a canvas to share with the public at the end of this short residency.

Visiting Lebanon as part of Zoukak Sidewalks, will be Mateo Lopez (protégé in visual arts 2012-2013, from Colombia), Lee Serle (protégé in dance 2010-2011, from Australia), Anani Dodji Sanouvi (protégé in dance 2006-2007, from Togo), Antonio Garcia Angel (protégé in literature 2004-2005, from Colombia), who will collaborate with Zoukak members lamia Abi Azar, Hashem Adnan, Junaid Sarieddine, Omar Abi Azar and Maya Zbib (protégé in theater 2010-2011) along with visual artist Nathalie Harb and Musician Khaled Yassine.

The Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative is a philanthropic program that was set up in 2002 to make a contribution to global culture. It seeks out gifted young artists from all over the world and brings them together with artistic masters for a year of creative collaboration in a one-to-one mentoring relationship.
